kids offer the gifts of service

Church School at St. Peter's

Our Family Sunday Worship service is at 10:00am on the first Sunday of every month.

Christian Education Classes will be at 9:00am all other Sundays beginning September 28th, 2008 through May 17th, 2009.

Children in kindergarten through 5th grade will meet in the Church School rooms while the youth in 6th through 8th grades will meet in the Conference Room.

Children's chapel for elementary-aged children and any pre-schoolers who feel ready will be in the sacristy during the 10:00 service each week.

We have a Nursery available for children from 0 - 4 years old during the 10 am service every Sunday, year round.

The Church School rooms and Nursery are located on the lower level of the Parish Hall at 211 Mulberry Street.

On Sunday, September 28, we are starting another year of Christian Education together, and we have exciting news about our offerings for children and youth.  Here are a few of the details:

* Christian education for our SPY (St. Peter's Youth in grades 6-12) and elementary-aged kids will be between services from 9:10 to 9:55.

*Children's chapel for elementary-aged children and any pre-schoolers who feel ready will be in the sacristy during the 10:00 service.

*Christian education for our pre-schoolers is being actively considered.

*We are also planning several family workshops for families of all shapes and sizes throughout the year.

I am particularly excited about what our elementary curriculum holds in store. Our focus this year will be on creation - not only about the creation in which we live and for which we care, but also about how we create the church, today and throughout history. We will learn about the earliest disciples, and we'll take advantage of the recent Lambeth Conference and EYE (Episcopal Youth Event) gatherings to learn about how we, as disciples, participate in making the church today. Among other things, we'll focus on our care of creation by studying and actively supporting the Millennium Development Goals. And, thanks to the generous support of the ECW, Pamella Bounds Seemans will work with us to create art for our church school room that celebrates the first six days of the creation story.

We need lots of volunteer help to make this a reality for our children, youth, and families, and there are so many ways to be a part of this important work of our parish. You can volunteer to be an extra set of hands and "shepherd" the kids during church school or chapel for one Sunday or many. You can volunteer to lead a workshop about a topic that inspires you. You can volunteer to help create materials for our classes or family workshops. You can even volunteer to recruit volunteers!
